World Class Basics

Welcome!
We’re excited to have you join us to explore the World Class Basics Blueprint that underpins ethical, harmonious, progressive riding that is truly rewarding for you and your horse!
Check out the video below, and then read on further below about the Pillars and Laps. Once you have done that, the laps await you below.
Why World Class Basics?
Athletes all over world, from novice to expert, in all disciplines, refine their basics. Golfers fine tune their swing, tennis players refine their serve – each sport has fundamentals that build to better performance.
Where and how do equestrians build the key elements that underpin excellence, from beginner to expert?
The Four Pillars
The four pillars of World Class Basics are complementary, building the mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual elements of horsemanship, riding, and training.
We ask and answer the question: “Where and how do equestrians best focus their attention in order to build the key elements that underpin excellence, from beginner to expert?”
The ultimate judge of your horse handling and riding is your horse. We’re here to help you evolve into the fair and ethical handler and rider that your horse would vote for.
The Laps
We present the pillars of World Class Basics in “laps”; each lap brings you key material from the pillars. We offer you video learning, backed up by personal feedback on your videos and answers to the questions that matter to YOU.
Lap One (READY) gets you ready for your journey. Some of the material may already be familiar – we encourage you to watch, listen, and consider how it applies to the horseperson you are today.
Lap Two (STEADY) gives you the basics that will underpin the rest of your riding skills. Without these one could easily get stuck on a plateau, so take great care to keep your beginner’s mind and work through these lessons diligently. This lap encourages you to make changes to your lineup, way of sitting, and way of thinking.
Lap Three (GO) takes you into movement building your connection with the horse in unique and important ways. We’ve done just a tiny bit with our fourth toolkit because right now we’re not ready to do patterns. But you can understand some of the concepts
Lap One - Ready?
Lap Two - Steady
Lap Three - Go!
Your Journey
We invite you to do our first three laps and then maybe talk to us about where you go next. Along the way, we want you to submit feedback and document your process. Then you’ve got a reference point as things really begin to change. We’re with you on the way, giving step-by-step more input in bite-sized chunks.
If you have problems mounting your horse you want to dive deeper into the groundwork. If you’re inspired to do lateral work, you also want to dive deeply into the groundwork, because doing that on the ground is a real help to doing it in the saddle.
The flow and grow framework we feel is important all of the time. That’s going to be in the background and we really want you to be becoming better learners as you go. And we promise you the rewards of that go into your life overall, not just into your riding. And as you develop your rider biomechanics and that may be where you want to go next, then you certainly can go for that, but realize that all of this is synergistic.
