How well do you ride circles?
Circles can be the ultimate test of your steering! Riding the line is often easier said than done.
And if your circles are not accurate, then your lateral work might not turn out so well!
After a lot of hard work this rider is getting very close to “riding the line” of the circle. This combination collected good marks in dressage tests and the horse was fit, well and happy.
We understand Circles!
We understand all the ways that circles become eggs, squares and other odd shapes.
We know the effect that odd-shaped circles can have on dressage scores as well as the long-term effects on your horse’s body.
Here is our rider demonstrating one of the many shapes that is commonly seen.
We guess that you would like to ride perfect circles with ease, grace and fluency because that will benefit your horse as well as all aspects of your riding.
We can help you.
First, we need to understand what is happening now, so that we can direct you to the most appropriate map to guide you.
Does your horse understand and respond to your aids?
To help you and your horse achieve better levels of understanding, responsiveness and effective communication, we recommend our “Riders Groundwork Programme“.
This programme is different because it helps you to:
- understand how horses learn
- teach your horse a simple set of aids that combine to any ridden movement
- transfer these aids into the saddle
- progress with confidence because you get personal feedback on your videos to keep you on track
We offer Groundwork with the purpose of facilitating a calm, harmonious, responsive and effective ride.
Does your riding help your horse to perform accurately and with a positive, healthy posture?
Riders influence their horse with every change that they make – for better or worse. Do you know how your posture is influencing your horse?
Our course on “Steering Straightness and Sideways” explains how rider position and Rider Biomechanics influence your horse in a profound way.
Founder of the Rider Biomechanics Movement, Mary Wanless, presents six sessions which guide you from the basics through to advanced lateral work.
You can get personal feedback on your videos from Senior Coach, Ali Wakelin, to help you check that you are putting the right basics in place.
Rider Biomechanics will help you on the journey to dancing in harmony with your horse.
ABOUT THE RIDER'S GROUNDWORK PROGRAMME
Our Rider’s Groundwork Programme offers five levels of learning. You can choose how many of these levels you complete and interleave these courses with ridden courses. When things aren’t quite going to plan it’s often helpful to return to Groundwork and refine your communication!
This needs the five badges and some pics
