In this session, Ali focuses on recreating and testing the “lats piece” that made such a difference to this combination in their previous session.
Ali introduces lateral exercises to check that Hannah can maintain her short, box-like torso and effective arms. We do see Hannah lose her “short torso” sometimes, and the great news is that she can refind “lats” pretty quickly.
A few weeks after the session, we asked Hannah what had been most helpful, she said
I have been using the ‘lats’ piece at competitions to prevent me getting ‘up’, which is my default when we both get tense. It’s worked fantastically; since then, we have achieved 5 Novice Area Festival qualifying scores! Which we failed to achieve last season
Ali remarked that competition performance has been difficult for this combination and she is very pleased that their competition results now reflect the quality of the work they do at home.
